The 36th Southern African Transport Conference

The 36th Southern African Transport Conference

South Africa’s longest running transport conference; the Southern Africa Transport Conference (SATC) took place from 10-13 July 2017 at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria. Transport professionals took part in plenary addresses from international transport experts as well as other sessions covering topics like infrastructure, urban and rural transport. All topics were focused on this year’s conference theme which looked at South African solutions to public transport challenges. SATC is supported and endorsed by the Department of Transport.

The Conference attracted 600 delegates this year.

SARF has an exhibition stand at the SATC it was “manned” by Sybul Ngobeni, Charlene Jansen joined Sybul on the first day, Charlene’s mission was to promote the 2018 SARF/IRF/PIARC Conference to the SATC Conference delegates.

It was great that Professor Philip Savage visited the SARF Exhibition stand and shared a joke or two with the SARF Ladies. Prof Savage turned 96 in July, an amazing innings from an amazing man.
