9th Northern Region Golf Day – What a cool day!

9th Northern Region Golf Day — What a cool day!

Northern Region together with its valued sponsors has done it again. They have brought together 132 of the industries top players and let them spend the day immersed in networking, chirping and the serious side of good golf. All with the determination to attend to relationship building and (importantly) to win this event.

In an attempt to overcome the bogies of the past few events (rain, dark, more rain and more dark), the organising committee took Ben Hogan’s advice*. It was decided to have a shot-gun start on the Kyalami golf course. Good idea. Almost everyone registered in time to get out onto their starting tee. Naturally, there were a couple of exceptions with one player who lost his shirt and a lady who got caught up in the traffic on the way to the club. Happily, they were soon carted out to catch up with their respective teams and the game was on.

The day was bright, but the weather was quite cool. This didn’t deter the teams who came in with some respectable scores. Sadly, defending champions Nyeleti were not up to their 2015 pace. They had to relinquish the silver trophy to the Much Asphalt team that astounded the field with their score.

Prize-giving offered some excellent golfing and personal goods and was accompanied by an excellent dinner from the Kyalami buffet tables. At the finale, Neale Vroom had to ask for verification when his card was drawn for the mid-week stay at Goodson’s Natal Spa Hot Springs & Leisure Resort!

Host, Northern Region Chairman Vusi Tshabangu, thanked the players and sponsors for their enthusiastic participation – and guaranteed that next year’s 10th anniversary of the golf day would be one to remember.
