Position status: Part Time: 8 days a month for 18 Months

The purpose of the Mogale City Child Road Safety project

The purpose of the project is to reduce pedestrian related crashes and fatalities at schools in the Mogale City Municipal Area. The objectives are:

Objective 1. To identify the school precincts with the highest road safety risks for children by using a Multi criteria assessment model that will prioritise the schools with the highest road safety risk rating.

Objective 2. To identify and prioritise measures to mitigate the road safety risks of children at schools with the highest risk rating.

Objective 3. To implement measures to mitigate the road safety risks of children at schools with the highest risk rating.

Objective 4. To evaluate impact of measures implemented on road safety of children at schools, document the implementation methodology to enable the replication of the model in other Cities by disseminating the results to members, local government and other road safety partners.

 

Role

  • Daily management of the Mogale City project implementation.
  • Mentor the SARF Junior Programme Officer who is based in Mogale City
  • Arrange progress meetings on site with Contractors, Local Authority and schools
  • Oversee the Contractors who will be supplying Road Safety furniture at the schools
  • Work with Local Authorities to make sure appropriate engineering standards are met.
  • Ensure the required products, services or deliverables are produced to the required SABS quality standards.
  • Ensure the time (schedule) and cost (budget) constraints of the project are achieved.
  • Provide leadership, direction and motivation to the project team as well as appointed contractors and sub-contractors.
  • Liaise with the SARF Operations Director, Mogale City officials, Local Councillors and appointed contractors as required.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the SARF Operations Director to ensure the project objectives are achieved.
  • Liaise with suppliers, consultants and/or contractors as required.
  • Mentor the SARF Junior Programme Officer who is based in Mogale City
  • Prepare, manage, review and update the project plan.
  • Prepare and manage key knowledge area plans including risk and communications, in conjunction with other project staff.
  • Manage project scope, constraints and scope creep.
  • Manage project variations and changes and maintain the change control process.
  • Manage project costs through cost estimating, budgeting, monitoring and contingency management.
  • Ensure appropriate quality standards and quality assurance requirements are met.
  • Ensure the project schedule is maintained and regularly report progress.
  • Manage the risk management process, including the development of contingency plans, reviewing residual risks and escalating risks that cannot be managed at the project level.
  • Monitor overall progress, use of resources and initiate corrective action where necessary.
  • Establish the project administration systems, documents control and management off all records.
  • Coordinate and prepare regular progress reports and communication with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate handover and completion activities.
  • Identify and document lessons learnt during the project.
  • Ensure the project meets its obligations as stated in the Project Narrative and Work plan
