RTMC to Launch the International Road Assessment Programme (IRAP) South African IRAP Launch DATE: Friday, 31 May 2013 ,Birchwood Hotel

The Ministry of Transport together with the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) unveiled the International Road Assessment Programme

(IRAP) as part of the safer roads initiative in response to the United Nation`s Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. The IRAP programme is dedicated to saving lives by promoting safer road designs. The recommendations of the IRAP programme could assist South Africa to meet its deadline of reducing road deaths to 50% by 2020.

At the launch, the Ministry of Transport supported by the MEC`s, the Acting CEO of the RTMC and other dignitaries unveiled the South African special IRAP survey vehicle to the public and conduct a demonstration for the members of the Media.
