About the workshop

In our on-going efforts to preserve and protect the assets of South Africa, this workshop will provide attendees with practical, hands-on learning experiences on the most effective methods of preparation, pre-treatment and repairs of surface failures. This will include an understanding of the basics of sub-surface granular materials, followed by training on pothole patching and road patching.

Historical experiences will be shared with the attendees in photographic format, with discussions on best practice.

Following this will be an on-site activity where attendees will carry out site preparation, pre-treatment, placement and compaction of surfacing material in potholes and patches. These activities will be captured on film and taken back to the classroom for discussion and decisions on the best practice activities.

Who should attend?

  •  Emerging contractors site staff
  • Municipal in-house road repair teams
  • Provincial in-house road repair teams
  • Junior technicians from Consulting firm
