Background

The existing COLTO Standard Specifications for Road & Bridge Works for State Road Authorities has been in use since 1998. A need was identified by the industry to revise this document due to new developments, outdated requirements, sophisticated equipment and to keep up with international standards and the need to create more job opportunities in the industry.

A needs analysis study identified that the existing COLTO Standard Specifications was not feasible for updating but to revise the entire document. Provision for 20 new chapters was therefore made in the new draft COTO Standard Specifications for Road & Bridge Works.

Who should attend this workshop

The draft COTO Standard Specifications for Road & Bridge Works is being developed under the auspices of the Road Materials Committee (RMC) to cater for the exclusive use of all road authorities in South Africa, i.e. SANRAL, Provincial Departments, Municipalities and the Metros.

The workshop will therefore be beneficial for all persons involved in the development of tender documentation and the execution of road related infrastructure, for example engineers, technologists, technicians, consulting engineers, contractors and sub-contractors.

Delegates can claim 1 – 5 ECSA CPD points
